We truly have an incredible time learning about God in our elementary Sunday School classes. This is such an important formative age in the life of your child, and we do not take this lightly. They are asking monumental questions about God, life, and everything else. We strive to answer these questions with the truth of scripture and introduce your child to a God who loves them more than we can ever comprehend. Elementary classes meet during first service only - 9:00am.
We teach our elementary curriculum one virtue at a time, and focus on that virtue for an entire month. We teach virtues because they introduce us to the character of God, and characteristics we should strive for as His followers. Studying one virtue for an entire month allows us to go deeper in our understanding and implement better practice. We continue to utilize the “Big Idea” strategy of teaching in this age group and use a different bible story or passage of scripture to teach each lesson.
Your child’s class starts with a short activity as a little teaser to get everyone thinking about what they will be learning for the day. 15 minutes after service starts, all of our elementary classes gather together in a larger meeting space (Room 203) for the lesson. We teach in fun and engaging ways using a variety of techniques and mediums. After the bible lesson, each class goes back to their appropriate classroom to process the lesson and talk more about applying what they have learned.
We would love to have your child join us for Sunday School! Here are a few things that will help if you have a child in one of our elementary classes:
Our classroom assignments are as follows:
Kinder thru 2nd Grade – Room 111
3rd thru 5th Grade – Room 203
Our big group time during each service is in Room 203. If you arrive to service late, you may find your child’s class in room 203.
Please make sure your child uses the restroom prior to service.
Due to severe allergies with some of our kids, we do not provide snacks or a snack time during service. Please make sure your child has a snack prior to coming to Sunday School.
Promotion to the next grade follows the school calendar. We will notify parents of the specific promotion Sunday each year.
