Fully Alive: Beholding & Becoming

Apr 12, 2026    Jeremy Erb

What does it actually mean to behold Jesus in the middle of our everyday lives? This powerful message takes us on a journey from Mount Sinai to our modern schedules, exploring the ancient truth that we become what we behold. At the heart of this teaching is Moses descending from forty days in God's presence, his face radiating so intensely that people were afraid to approach him. The beautiful detail? Moses didn't even know he was shining. He wasn't performing or trying to achieve spiritual status—he simply spent time with God, and transformation happened naturally. This same invitation extends to us through Christ, who tore the veil and made God's presence accessible to all. The spiritual disciplines aren't about earning God's approval or manufacturing transformation through sheer effort. Instead, they're like keeping a mirror turned toward the light. A mirror in darkness is useless, no matter how perfectly polished. But when light enters, it does what it was designed to do—receive and reflect. We're called to present our bodies as living sacrifices, arranging our ordinary, embodied lives around the one reality that can actually transform us. This isn't about spiritual performance or checking religious boxes. It's about positioning ourselves in God's presence and allowing the Spirit to do what only the Spirit can do: transform us degree by degree, glory by glory, into the image of Christ.
