Prophet (1 Samuel 3)

Mar 30, 2025    Jeremy Erb

In this exploration of 1 Samuel 3, we're reminded that even in our darkest moments, the lamp of God never goes out. The story of young Samuel's calling teaches us about God's faithfulness and His desire to speak to His people. We see a beautiful contrast between the failing priesthood of Eli and the fresh start God initiates through Samuel. This narrative isn't just ancient history - it's a mirror for our own spiritual lives. Are we, like Eli, growing spiritually dim and disconnected? Or are we, like Samuel, positioning ourselves to hear God's voice? The repetition of 'Here I am' echoes through biblical history, from Abraham to Moses, and now to Samuel. It challenges us: are we ready to respond to God's call with the same eagerness? This passage reminds us that God is always at work, even when His word seems rare. It encourages us to open the doors of our hearts, just as Samuel opened the doors of the temple, allowing God's light to shine into the darkness of our world.
